Oh hey! Let’s do this.
It’s Election Day here. Or Disassociation Day, which is what you can celebrate once you cast your vote. I went to parent-teacher conferences (It’s not busy enough that kids are home from school on election day? We have to do conferences that day, too?) and then voted.
Did you vote? Please vote. It’s important. Not only because every election is important, but because your voice matters. 💙

I’ve been absently browser-window shopping for a long puffer vest and every time I’m able to click “purchase” on an item, I’m reminded that I’m not quite 5 foot 4. With a long torso. So wearing a long puffer vest will make me look like I’m in one of those cold weather sleeping bags that are definitely caterpillar-adjacent.
I like this one. But I do not need it. Also, see above re: buggyness.
Looking for video clips to help with your mission to disassociate? Need to watch the Baz Luhrmann Romeo + Juliet clip where they meet for the first time? It’s a good one.
Kate writes about how the horrors persist, but so do the trees. I loved this read.
Related to the bullet point above about puffer vests: this sweater also feels inevitable in a good/bad way. It’s only slightly better than the Silly Goose University one … which I already own.
Once I’ve cast my ballot, I usually stress-bake for the rest of the day. Today I’m making a bunch of chocolate babkas to deliver to friends. I make the dough early in the morning, and then let it do its resting-in-the-fridge thing, then VOTE, then come back and make the chocolate filling/do the strange twisty-plaiting, then it rises, and then it gets baked. I don’t remember when this recipe became part of my election day process, but it’s been several cycles now, and it’s tasty. The recipe I printed years ago and keep going back to is from Pretty Simple Sweet.
Do you feel like you need a Trogdor sticker in your life? Got you.
Here’s what’s currently on my TBR, if you’re looking for books that I haven’t read yet:
Hey, you hyperventilating? No? Just me? Okay.
Another good distraction? The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is disassociation at its finest. You get to play as Zelda. You realize how important the echo of a bed can be (it makes sense if you have played). If you want to enjoy the feeling of completely tuning out, this game is a good one.
Signing off but thinking of you all.
